RECORD BIZ FROM THE INSIDE AT LAMP by THE G-MAN, Immedia Wire Service
Introducing three split personalities who are really helping people's careers: Bobby Borg, Jonathan Levin, and Rob "Blasko" Nicholson.
Borg, former drummer for multi-platinum Warrant, is now the author of "The Musician's Handbook," published by Billboard Books. Levin, current guitarist for Dokken, is
now a highly respected entertainment attorney specializing in music. And Nicholson, bassist with Rob Zombie and Page Hamilton, is now also producing.
Led by the energetic Borg, the three young veterans zoomed through a fact-packed 2-1/2 hour presentation at
Leslie Waller's L*A*M*P (Los Angeles Music Productions), dispensing practical advice about the business end of the music biz. A summary of the key topics would not do justice to the evening
because most of them were followed by a concrete example, often one that was personally witnessed (or professionally endured) by some of the panelists.
So, while one might say that they discussed who should be on your team, what kinds of contractual arrangements you need to make, and the ways of making money in the music
industry, that simply doesn't go far enough. This was truly "Getting down to business." It was refreshing. It was helpful. And it was the sixth Tuesday night L*A*M*P event in a row that really
delivered the goods.
