MUSIC NEWS YOU CAN USE EVERY TUES
by THE G-MAN, Immedia Wire Service
What are you doing Tuesday nights? No, that's not a "come on." This is about helping your career in the music business. Every Tuesday evening
at the Music Connection Theater (Coldwater Canyon at Ventura Blvds.), Leslie Waller's Los Angeles Music Productions (LAMP) is holding seminars from 7-9 p.m.
In August, it's "Legal Tuesdays," and so far, the sessions have been lively and the audiences have been hanging on every word.
The series began with a bang, as Waller presented Jeff & Todd Brabec (left), authors of
"Music Money And Success: The Insiders Guide To Making Money In The Music Industry."
The Brabecs discussed copyrights, contracts, sampling, use of public domain material, and
licensing. The information covered in this August 5th event was invaluable and voluminous.
On August 12th, Patrick Gorman, Esq., and David L essoff, Director, Business Affairs, Capitol Records, (pictured at right) handled the pros
and cons of being on a label vs. remaining totally independent. These two attorneys helped artists view the decision from sevral aspects: legal, business, and
what you might call the "day-in, day-out dealings" of running your career.
The format of these LAMP seminars allows for Q&A, and attendees were quick to avail
themselves of this excellent opportunity to talk with the experts.
On August 19, Paul I. Menes, Esq., will cover the ins and outs of "Starting and Operating an
Independent Record Label." On August 26, Moses Avalon will reveal the "Secrets of Negotiating a Record Contract."
Need some more facts, info, data, straight talk, updates, insights, and networking? Let LAMP shine some light on the business side of the music biz every Tuesday night. Check www.lamusicproductions.com for details.
